About Maria

I am a painter and graduated from the University of Ulster with a BA Hons in Fine and Applied Arts. On graduating, I was awarded an Art Prize by the Spires Gallery and started exhibiting in Northern Ireland.

After a career break to travel and raise my young family, in recent years I have further developed my painting practice. I have exhibited my work across Ireland and further afield, and have worked alongside interior designers and private clients. My artworks are now held in private, corporate, and public collections, locally and internationally.

I create atmospheric landscape paintings drawing inspiration from the rugged Irish coastline and dramatic sea views. The fluctuations between flatness and depth, abstraction and representation, the contrast between light and dark, and the process of painting itself all play important roles in my work. I hope to convey a sense and feeling of a place rather than an exact visual representation.
